Unit of measurement: stone and pounds
Whenever you travel to other countries, it is useful if you know about how they measure length, volume, mass etc. Even better if you bring conversion sheet along with your itinerary. Some countries use different units to measure specific items and it becomes very handy for you. Also, if you bring electronic items with you, check the outlet type,voltage as well. Japanese voltage is 100V, but American voltage is 120V.
One of the things I had to get used to when I come over to the states was measurement. Clothe size is different (if I buy L size clothe here, it is way to big for me. And clothe size was S,L,M etc not numbers) , shoe size is different (shoe size is via actual cm in Japan), kitchen measuring cup is different (in Japan,one cup is 200cc while American measuring cup is 250cc)... and I have cheat sheet for when I needed to convert one unit to the other. And I have scale that shows kg,lb,oz.. I like it a lot because when I use Japanese recipe, I can use it with Japanese unit(metric) to weigh food. My favorite kitchen scale is called escali primo.
