Salmon run;Bears,Eagles,Wolves
Many people are accustomed to see bears catching jumping salmon as if catching the Frisbee with mouth by standing in the river. It is amazing to see how well they catch the jumping salmon with mouth. It is also amazing how high salmon can jump and how they find their river they were born after spending years in the sea.

When you look at salmon's life cycle, it is very interesting. They hatch in the river and, swim out thousands of miles to the sea, spending years and they will come back to the river they were born surviving through all obstacles such as bears, wolves, eagles to lay their eggs.

Eagle catching salmon
When I think of birds and fish, I imagine bird in the water, dip their head in, and hold fish in their beak, but eagle seems to carry fish with feet (talons) rather than their beak. Do you know why?
According to Journey north bald eagle website, eagle carry fish with feet (talons) because..
1. carrying with beak make them difficult to fly
2. when carrying their prey, they need to be carried far away from face to avoid attack from prey
You can read full article on eagle catching fish at Journey North Bald Eagle website here .
On the talk of eagle, have you ever wondered whether eagle can swim? I have, because I have never seen eagle swim, but rather we see more footage of them carry prey with their foot (talons). I have never seen eagle eating fish in the water like other birds. However, eagle can swim.I found a youtube video of eagle swimming. I did not know they can swim.

Wolves catching salmon
It is interesting to see how well wolves catch salmon. They may spend a couple of minutes or less in the water stalking the salmon and grab with mouth and out to the side.I was very surprised to find out wolves are very good at fishing.
On the other hand,I wonder why they do not stand in the river just like bears during salmon run to catch the jumping salmon in the mid air.I would imagine catching the salmon in the air is easy task for them.
Another amazing video is about dog fishing. I do not consider our stumpy Corgi "Palette" as water dog but I wonder if dogs are good at catching fish just like their ancestors;wolves.
Then,I found a youtube video about dog named "Brutus" fishing. If you were a blog subscriber or reading from Facebook, please click here to watch the video.
