Palette's summer treats diary; July 15th,2010

In the previous entry titled "Palette's summer treats diary;June 13th,2010 ", I wrote about how excited our dog, "Palette" becomes when she hears the command "Go get leash" for walk. And, get excited about her cool down treats. Palette really loves my cool down treats, and when we come back home, she literally right pass over me and position herself in the kitchen and wait in her imaginary line for the treats with bubbles around her mouth.

Here in this "Palette's summer treats dairy" series, I thought it would be interesting for you to tour around our kitchen to see what kinds of cool down treats she is getting. Now, I will pass a pen to Palette to write her diary here.

 July 15th,2010

 Dear diary,

As always, I waited for my mom get ready for walkie, and called me from bottom from the stairs. "Palette,go get a leash".

Waiting for mom to get ready for walkie..y.a.w.n...

Coming out from my cave (under the bed), and looong stretch, I am ready for walkie with mom. Twirl, twirl with my little nub moving,I picked up the leash and headed to my mom's.

 "Ouch!",mom said.

With helicopter ears, I looked at her and saw her rubbing her nose tip. Mom told me that she would need to teach me how to pass the leash nicely because I threw it to her with full swing due my excitement for walkie, and metal part of the leash hit her nose tip..She was not mad at all, but I felt bad. Sorry,mom..

Off to the walkie, we went to lake area route again. Our community has lake and we see many geese family nibbling something on the ground or swimming in the lake. We see people fishing, too and I wonder what kinds of fishes are in the lake. I love seafood and,my curious minds wants to know..

On the talk of lake, recently,I had a car ride and on our way back from errands, we saw the geese family crossing the road near the lake and one goose (mother goose?) was standing right in the center of the road until little ones finish crossing the road. I stared at the geese march with curious eyes from windows. It is a shame mom did not have camera with her..

Now, back to walkie story, on our way back from walkie, I met 3 furriends; Doberman pincher,Golden retriever, and Miniature Schnauzer. Miniature Schnauzer is my good furriends and, I like his soft curly hair We enjoyed greeting nose to nose and exchanged bows with me butt wagging. It was fun! I love meeting new people, new furriends but it is always nice to see my good furriends on walkie.

After the short greeting,Miniature schnauzer mom decided to walk on and he was looking  back at me,whining and I kept looking back hoping to meet him again on walkie.

Our home started be in the view ahead of us,and I now thinking about cool down frozen treats. Looking at my mom on my side, I asked "Can we run to the house? " Mom smiled and we started running to the house.

Hanging my tongue out and run with mom to the house was fun.

Now is the time for..? Frozen Yogurt Treats!?!

Today,I got Frozen strawberry tomato yogurt treats.

 Frozen Strawberry tomato yogurt treats..

Here is how you make them.

1. To the mixer, add 1 red ripe tomato cut to chunks 4.8 oz, 3 big strawberries 4.8 oz, 5 oz of Stoneyfield organic plain yogurt , and puree them.

** The strawberry used for the treats were big; 2" high,1.5" width.

** When you cut tomato to chunks, make sure to use ripe tomato, not tomato that are green, and make sure to take vines, leaves off. Tomato plants; stems and leaves, and green part of tomato are toxic to dogs.

** Mom had 1 whole tomato left she had no plan to use it for her cooking and,she used it to make my treats, but she would not use tomato as staple in the frozen treats because night shade family plants such as potatoes, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes could aggravate the inflammation if dogs were arthritis. I am not arthritis but,I used to limp in the past, and tomato is very rare occasional ingredients in the treat.

2. Pour those onto ice cube tray and freeze

** This will be about 14 blocks of treats in one ice cube tray with my mom's

** Frozen strawberry tomato yogurt treats whole ice cube tray is roughly about 153 kcal (you can see more detail here at nutritiondata.com website). So, each ice cube given is about 11kcal

** Mom wanted rough kcal to be as close to real one, and she used Nutrition fact food label on the back of yogurt she used. She typed in the information provided in the nutrition label on the yogurt..

The other day,I saw mom * zap,zap,zap..* in the kitchen.I knew she was making something I smelled sweet strawberry, and I could not wait to get the frozen strawberry tomato treats. I caught mom tasting my treats before being poured into ice cube tray to be frozen.

"Can I taste too?" I asked mom and I got a small lick. Hmm.. that was good.

 Pausing with Giant strawberry...

My gator jump failed.. aiming,aiming..aiming..with cute whining for mom..

I sat nicely and mom said "back,back,back.." and I scoot back a little by little and then.. mom tossed one frozen strawberry tomato treats to me. I caught it in the air and nom..nom..nom.. that is tasty treats! Mom did not care for but, I am happy to finish them up for mom

 Stay cool and enjoy summer!

We are really mad at Grammy because she is so far behind and hasn't let us on the computer much lately to read our friend's blogs.

We were really happy to read this post today and see the pictures of you AND of that yummy looking fruit and treats your Mom makes for you from it! We are going to have to have Grammy make some of those for us, too. I guess we probably can't have the tomato in it because of Grandma OC's arthritis (and, by the way, we were very happy to have that info and didn't know about that before) but we can have the fruit and the yogurt! It has been so hot here that those treats would be wonderful.

It was fun, too, to hear about your walkie and the furiends you met out there! The Country Corgi Crew

Did your Grammy made some for you? I taste Palette's frozen treats when I make one and if it had some sort of sweetness via honey, sugar to balance out the acidity, I might actually enjoy them. With just tomato, strawberry and plain yogurt..it was bit strong on acidity to enjoy but Palette loved them. It smelled sweet.

Hey Yassy. We have a lake here that we walk our dogs by and we have geese too! Our dogs love strawberries, but we found out they like pumpkin seeds even more!
