Palette's winter treats diary; March 1st,2011

As you may have already know, our stumpy dog, "Palette" becomes so excited when she hears me say "Go get a leash" for walk. Her ears perk up,stand up, look at me for a second then, turns around running to go get her leash to go for walk.

However, just like us, sometimes, she feels like sleeping in..

Good morning mom

Mom; " You look like so uncomfortable sleeping that way. Are you comfortable?"

Y.A.W.N... I am very comfortable here,mom.

I am sleepy. 5 more minutes,please.

* Hehehe.. I learned that trick from Dad*

I feel like sleeping in.. 5 more minutes, mom.

Looong stretch with big yawn, and I am about ready to go for walkie, mom.

Once we are out for walk, on our way back to home, she tends to walk much faster or tries to jog back home with me since she gets excited thinking about her cool down treats.

Palette really loves my cool down treats she gets after walk, and when we come back home, she literally right passes over me, as soon as her leash is off,she trots to kitchen, and position herself in the kitchen and wait in her imaginary line for the treats.

Sometime, she thinks that time to take off her leash is waste of time, and rather runs up to the kitchen with her leash still on, and wait for me.

If I were too late to come over, she woof at me and say " Race has not finished at the entrance, but here in the kitchen! Come quickly."

Walkie was so much fun!

Mom, finish line for our race is here, not at the entrance!

With "Palette's summer treats dairy" series, I thought it would be interesting for you to tour around our kitchen to see what kinds of cool down treats she is getting, and share her cool down treats' recipes.

Since we go for walk daily except on rainy days or snowy days, and also she gets cool down treats after being bathed or after physical activity inside the house such as fetch ball/Frisbee all year round, cool down treats tend to run out faster sometimes.

So, we will have the series all year round and keep introducing new recipes of her cool down treats. Now, I will pass a pen to Palette to write her diary here.

 March 1st,2011

 Dear diary,

Yesterday, we went for walkie with long, long distance to lake area where we saw many geese.

As always, mom and I jog backed to house on the way home, and I was soo tired and I needed a power nap after the walkie.

At night, I slept so deep with my personal notes for mom and dad, they say.I do not remember about me singing a song with personal touch for them, ever, but mom said I sang loud enough to keep her from sleeping..

So,now you know why I felt like sleeping in, using dad's old trick to sleep in more.

After the loong stretch and big yawn and deep sleep last night, I feel much better and ready to stroll around the neighborhood.

Since we went for long distance walkie yesterday, today's route is shorter.

Now, what would you do if one of furriends came galloping towards you from nowhere with her favorite squeaky Duck in her mouth and tossed at you?

I did not know what to do.. This new lady furriend kept galloping around us after she tossed the squeaky Duck to me, and .. her head going lower down to exchange the name cards with me... and my ears were at helicopter angle..

I just gave a woof greet to her and, thought " Cool down treats vs favorite squeaky toy with new furriend" .. and I decided to move on, thanking her for the invite. The play has to be with rain check.

Now is the race to the house with mom. I know I can win every single race, but sometimes, I let her win. Now and then,we meet people on walkie. I know they are not in our race competition, but I like to win. So,I go walk passes them with brisk stumpy walk/jog. I can be competitive like that.

This week, mom and dad had kiwi fruits as desert after meal and, I wanted one too. I did a baby jump to see what the tasty smell coming from, and dad gave me a piece. To their surprise, I liked them! Next day,mom took a picture of me with kiwi fruits.

Big cow eyes for Kiwi fruits

Nom,Nom,Nom..

Then, one day,mom was making Sushi. Something smelled good here too! Crunchy, refreshing, and clean taste....

Mom said I must had been a bird before..

She used to have a parakeet that loved cucumber, lettuce ..

Yes. It is an English cucumber. It is crunchy and,I like them.

Unfortunately, I do not get vegetables or fruits as part of the diet. So, I enjoy every bite of cool down treats.

This time, mom made Frozen Kiwi cucumber yogurt treats. I saw mom was taste testing the treats. She said it was not that bad because it is like Raita (Indian Cucumber sauce often served as side dish for spicy curry) or Tzatziki sauce (cucumber yogurt sauce for Gyro), but for her, it was bit odd to have sweet note as background from kiwi. That is perfectly fine, because I want them all!

Frozen Kiwi cucumber yogurt treats..

Here is how you make them.

1. To the mixer, add peeled Kiwi 3 oz (top and bottom ends removed) , peeled cucumber 3 oz, Redwood Hill Farm plain Goat milk yogurt 6.3 oz to the mixer and puree them.

2. Pour those onto ice cube tray and freeze

** This will be about 8 blocks of treats in ice cube tray with my mom's

** Frozen Kiwi cucumber yogurt treats whole amount is roughly about 165 kcal (you can see more detail at nutritiondata.com website here ). So, each ice cube given is about 21 kcal.

** Mom wanted rough kcal to be as close to real one, and she used Nutrition fact food label on the back of yogurt she used. She typed in the information provided in the nutrition label on the yogurt.

Nom,nom,nom..Tastes so good!

This is the best part of the walkie time!

This is really drool worthy treats!

Got a cool down treats?

I got a baby yogurt mustache

I love foods and,I can say it loud that I am the biggest fan of mom's homemade treats!

Hope you would enjoy them too!
