Palette's fall treats diary;November 20th,2011

Last month was eventful month for me to say the least.

We always have Halloween coming every year and no change about it, but in addition to that event, me and my husband got to meet down to earth TV celebrity chef "Paula Deen" at her book signing event.

The book is titled "Southern cooking bible" and it was written with NY times food writer Melissa Clark.

For me, southern cooking is not much familiar area, even though I can cook chicken and dumplings or biscuits etc..

Just recently, I have made fried green tomato burger and it is my first experience with green tomato I was not sure what flavor I would expect with green tomato, but it turned out to be yummy food.

I am sure there will be a lot of southern style dishes that I have never tried yet.

Personally, I would like to learn wide variety of dishes and, I thought it was good addition to my cook book collection, plus it was exciting to get to see her in person even for a short moment.

Some years ago, I got to be in part of audience at Rachael Ray's pilot TV show in NY as well, and I remember my husband has whispered to me that her food smells real good.

It is always nice to get to see the person that inspired you to do something. When I did not know much about wide variety of produce, herb, cheese etc after coming over to the states, food network TV programs helped me to widen my repertoire for the cooking and enlarge my knowledge about food.

Therefore, meeting someone that I watched on TV and inspired you to cook the new kind of food/dishes was very exciting and nice.

I have started reading the book and, I like the fact that each recipe comes with a little tips and, that is the part I like most.

The book signing day was rainy day, but many people has showed up to see her.

According to the local newspaper, 600 tickets were distributed, and line was already started forming at about 1 pm while her signing event was scheduled to start at 4 pm.

We had a ticket already so, we went to the location about 4 pm and, I was overwhelmed to see how many people were in the store. By the time I get to get my book signed, it was already about 7pm.

It was long wait but it was worth it.

Also, last month was the month Palette and us got to try out new kind of fruits. We got to try Passion fruits this time.

I do not like when something that should not move/talk start moving/talking and, I am ready to run for life!

The other day, when mom and I started passing by one of the houses in our neighborhood, the witch and ghost starts laughing with creepy tone of voice.

I looked back at them but they just kept laughing and, I did not like it at all and I took mom for a walk with very brisk walk to our house.

I know mom takes me for a walk but, sometimes, me taking her for a walk might be good for a change

Do you take your mom and dad for a walkie?

Halloween day, as mom and dad calls it, is very busy day for me as well. Strange looking people ding dong our door and take candies away... I have to *woof* at them to protect mom and dad.

I am devoted guard and, with so many strange people coming and going, I got tired of woofing.. and I do not know how long I have slept on the day... I was just so tired from the security guard job.

Anyway, after leaving all the creepy laughing behind us, mom and I got to our house and I got to taste the yummy frozen yogurt treats.

This time, mom made frozen passion fruit roasted red pepper yogurt treats. It was so good!!
