Yassy’s note:Liam’s first year:Day 92-Day 97

In the previous entry titled “Yassy’s note: Liam in NICU;day 8- day 14“, I wrote Liam came to our family about 3 weeks early (36 weeks and 2 days) and he has spent next 3 weeks in NICU.

He was tiny little baby; 18″ tall, weighing 5 lb 6 oz…

Day 94..

Liam started stir and then crying and I remembered the youtube video of decoding baby cry

Decoding baby cry..

I listened to his cry very carefully and tried diaper change (he had his milk not too long ago so,I thought it was something else or simply got hungry again).

Once I started trying to change his diaper, he was laying on the bed calmly and let me change his diaper and got quiet down:-)

Did I do what he wanted me to do? I hope I did, but not sure.

Day 95..

I am happy to report that Liam has been doing great job on head up exercise on tummy time;he be on his tummy and hold his head up and stay.

Since he does not go down after one second,I have been counting and today, he kept his head up for 200 seconds!!

Maybe his head/neck might become stable soon???

He is happily sucking his pacifier after the short nap, and talking to himself .

Oops,he started crying for help;missing pacifier??

Just passed 7pm, Liam has just finished another tummy time exercise, and held his head for 260!! I am getting tired counting, lol.

Day 97..

Liam is getting pro for breast feeding. Today, he spent 20 min on one, 13 min on the other and by the time of last burp time, his eyes were already closed (although I could see his white parts of the eye a bit) but head down on my shoulder and started Zzzzzzzzz…

Must have been such a hard work to eat, lol.

Our pediatrician told us to give him supplemental dose of milk to make sure he is getting what he needs;after the each breast feeding time give 60ml of milk,I was told.

So, I was debated if I just simply cuddle then and let him snooze a bit and give him the milk more.

Well,I decided to let him decide so, I prepared 70ml (when 60ml, in the past, he seemed wanted more) and tried to give him.

His eyes were wide open, flapping his hands with wide open mouth as if to say “Hurry up,I can drink more!”

So, I gave him that 70 ml milk.He then gave me a big man burp after that.

He is now peacefully back to sleeping… Zzzzzzz

Liam Day 97 in the swing..

I was reading mayo clinic book (I read it like a textbook because I know nothing and want to study on them) and amazing thing I read today is that, babies can distinguish mother’s breast milk from other baby’s mom’s breast milk because of sensory skill.

I was surprised. Wonder if Liam could do blind tasting and pick my breast milk from the bunch, lol

Stay tuned for more Liam’s story..
